Why Locals Love Asylum Coffeehouse Bangsar

Asylum Coffeehouse Bangsar, nestled in the vibrant heart of Kuala Lumpur, offers a refined coffee experience that goes beyond your typical café visit. This charming spot is a sanctuary for coffee lovers and remote workers alike, with a calm, inviting atmosphere bathed in natural light that instantly soothes the soul. Whether you're escaping the city buzz or seeking a cozy nook to dive into deep work, Asylum Coffeehouse crafts a haven of warmth and tranquility.

What truly sets Asylum Coffeehouse apart is its dedication to distinctive coffee profiles that tantalize the palate with every sip. Their signature house blend, a harmonious mix of beans from Colombia, Brazil, and Ethiopia, roasted meticulously for an espresso profile, delights with rich notes of chocolate, caramel, roasted nuts, and subtle floral hints. For fans of filter coffee, the Costa Rica Catuai single origin delivers lively flavors reminiscent of white grape, cranberry juice, and sweet lemons, offering a crisp and refreshing experience.

Not a coffee drinker? The menu thoughtfully includes non-coffee delights like the velvety Matcha Latte, nutty and soothing Houjicha Latte, or the sparkling freshness of the Sparkling Lemonade crafted from homemade lemon syrup and spritzer sparkling water — each drink showcasing the café’s commitment to quality and variety.

Though the food selection leans towards the savory side, it perfectly complements the beverage offerings. The Big Breakfast plates herb chicken sausage, smoked beef bacon, double eggs, sourdough, and wok beans in a hearty, satisfying combination. The Crispy Rosti, with hand-cut potato pancake topped with poached egg, smoked salmon, and ikura, is a refined treat that marries textures and flavors beautifully. For a lighter bite, the Pulled Chicken Open Sandwich on sourdough with sunny-side-up eggs and arugula is vibrant, fresh, and nourishing.

Customers consistently praise not just the quality of coffee but the thoughtful and friendly service. One visitor shared how the baristas took the time to guide them through the coffee options, deepening their appreciation for each brew’s unique character. Another noted the welcoming vibe as perfect for unwinding after a busy day, with the smooth, rich Keluak signature blend coffee being a highlight that re-energized their spirits. The café’s steady Wi-Fi, ample power outlets, and quiet surroundings make it ideal for those who want to blend productivity with pleasure.

Ambiance here is a defining feature — subtle, bright, and peaceful, it invites you to slow down and savor moments, whether alone or in good company. While parking can be a minor challenge, visitors agree that the journey is worth it for the premium coffee craftsmanship and the serene environment. With its Singaporean roots and inspiring backstory, Asylum Coffeehouse Bangsar transcends the usual café scene by offering both a taste journey and a thoughtfully designed space for connection and calm.

For anyone passionate about specialty coffee amidst Kuala Lumpur’s bustling landscape, Asylum Coffeehouse Bangsar stands out as a compelling destination to experience expertly roasted beans, carefully crafted drinks, and sincere hospitality — all wrapped in a warm, inviting ambiance that beckons you back time and again.

After an early morning Christmas service at church and a lovely lunch appointment with friends, we came here to unwind. The café has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and catching up. The Singapore Series coffee, especially the Keluak signature blend was outstanding. Smooth, rich, and full of character, every sip lifted our energy and made the moment even more enjoyable. A wonderful spot to end a meaningful day with great coffee and good company.

Very difficult parking but i persevered. Lol. Parked in front of a no parking sign next door and took-away an expresso based coffee. At the time of writing, these are only made with one default. A medium dark roast of a blend of 3 beans, the keluak. The outcome is a steep bold, bitter, dark chocolaty-like tasting coffee which pairs very well with milk. The barrista is friendly and informative. Other pour over coffee served with other blends. Do let me know when you've priced up your single origin beans - please add these to the 2nd hopper soon!

Interesting coffee shop chain from Singapore. Tried the keluak black cold brew. Very refreshing. Food options are limited to pastries and bake items. You can purchase some of the coffee tins as well. Service is awesome. I was told about the exciting history of the place and the coffee shop experience they are trying to create

10/10 Had a solid time doing work at this new cafe. Solid choices for filter coffee, only 1 choice for their espresso based though. tried their PB&J latte and iced black. Both are solid. Have plugs and quite okay tables to do work. Gave me wifi and even lent me their charger. Kitchen opens at 11am (?) would repeat. Pretty confident in a few weeks it would be very crowded once everyone knows about this cafe.

SAVE this cafe for your next brunch spot! If you love cafe hopping around Bangsar, then check out Asylum Coffeehouse. They have launched their all day Melbourne inspired brunch menu; not to mention that it is also affordable! Ordered: The Big Breakfast (RM22) It's rare to see a full breakfast plate selling at this price nowadays. You get one of everything like sourdough, beans, double eggs, herb chicken sausage, smoked beef bacon, and side salad - a plate of wholesomeness Over-The-Top Sando (RM18) Triple egg omelet, thick chicken spam, fresh mayo, and lettuce sandwiched between shokupan slices. It might not look fancy but tasted amazing! Pulled Pressure-Cooked Spicy Chicken Open Sandwich (RM18) Chicken is coated in a sweet and mild peppery sauce. With a sunny side up and fried onions, the sandwich provided moist, soft, and crunchy textures altogether. It's accompanied by a side salad too. Crispy Rosti with Poached Egg, Smoked Salmon, and Ikura (RM24) Rosti was thin and nice. The flavours from the smoked salmon and ikura were spreading evenly across the palate, like a taste in the sea! The veggies also added a refreshing crunch to the dish Shakshuka with Poached Eggs and Sourdough (RM14) The tomato and bell pepper base intensified along with the eggs in every bite - naturally earthy and neutral Super Double Grilled Cheese Sourdough Sandwich ⭐ (RM8) Simple, yet irresistible! Would be nice to include some tomato soup to pair with Beef Ragu (RM14) Al dente tagliatelle with flavourful beef ragu. The holy basil was subtly prominent, delivering smooth herby notes. Dubai Chocolate Stacked Pancakes (RM32) The dark chocolate sauce took the spotlight; it's layered by pistachio cream and kunafa. Together, they create a combination of rich, nutty, and velvety textures - certainly a decadent treat for any sweet tooth! Stacked Pancakes with Berry Berry Bomb Compote ⭐ (RM24) These berry pancakes are the best pick for a light yet fulfilling dessert! The berry compote and whipped mascarpone were well harmonized, toning down its richness. On the other hand, the pancakes were delicate in texture and they're not dense at all Tiramisu French Toast ⭐ (RM29) Using espresso shokupan as the main ingredient, it retains a similar texture to normal breads but doesn't taste sweet by itself. The marshmallow mascarpone and coffee custard sauce helped in deepening the aroma Kaya Custard Open Sandwich (RM10) A tasty dessert with kaya custard, mascarpone spread, and kunafa - the layers were visually stunning! Plus, the contrast in textures made it fun to eat. Earl Brown (RM17) Espresso with orange syrup and earl grey foam - the bitterness and citrusy notes were intense! Would suggest drinking without using a straw to get a balanced taste. Creamy Strawberry Matcha ⭐ (RM19) While the tea wasn't strong, it carried a beautifully sweet flavour from the strawberry foam. Nearest public transportation: Bank Rakyat - Bangsar LRT Station (5 minutes walk)

Came only for a coffee which was good! Big plus that they keep the store plastic free and serve the hot and iced coffees in glass cups. The barista was really nice, making me a second coffee since I forgot to ask for a single shot.

Super excited for this place as this is walking distance from me. It also helps that the coffee is good, the menu is pretty gutsy and the owner is as generous as Mother Theresa. I might have mistaken this place for a not-for-profit based on how many goodies he gave us on the opening day. There's a buzz happening here and that's a good thing. Yeap, you'll see me here again and most likely would see me regularly. It's a perfect place to hang out to chill and catch up with friends and annoying neighbours.
